“Our experience at Shiksha has been nothing short of amazing! From the moment we enrolled our two-year-old, we knew we made the right choice. Mrs. Basu is exceptional! She creates a warm and nurturing environment where our child feels safe and excited to learn every day. Mrs. Basu has a lot of experience from being a teacher for many years. The activities are engaging, allowing kids to explore and develop their skills at their own pace.
What impresses us most is how our little one has thrived since starting at Shiksha. Her social skills have blossomed, and she’s gained a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy. We're often amazed by the new things she comes home excited to share with us!
Shiksha is clean, well-organized, and equipped with age-appropriate toys and materials. The communication between Mrs. Basu and the parents is outstanding, keeping us informed about our child's progress and upcoming events via pictures and videos sent by text. It makes me feel at ease at work knowing our daughter is having a blast!
We couldn't be happier with having our daughter enrolled at Shiksha. It's evident that Mrs. Basu truly cares about each child's development and well-being. If you're looking for a preschool where your child can flourish in a fun and educational environment, Shiksha is the perfect place!”

Meet Kasturi Basu
Hi parents,
I am Kasturi Basu, and I have lived in Foster City for more than 27 years. I have been a teacher in California for last 22 years, and my passion is to teach young children. I believe teaching children through fun activities like art, science experiments, yoga, and even cooking can add an extra dimension to learning. I am arranging for tutoring for children going to Elementary schools, and entering Middle school. I would support them according to their individual needs, and prepare them for being ready for their respective grade levels. I am excited to offer a fun and educational daycare and tutoring experience for your children.
Best,
Kasturi
My Philosophy For Teaching and Objective
My Philosophy for Shiksha is to build a platform where I would provide a nurturing, inviting, and loving environment for the children with the goal of building a life-long learning experience. I would create avenues where the little ones are going to freely share their thoughts and express their views in an open-minded manner. Shiksha is for all. Everybody is invited to be a part of it.
We host weekly formal music lessons with Ms. Mandy, a district-wide music teacher.
Ms. Anjali from the Foster City Library reads interactive and thematic stories with us in her monthly visits.
Dr. Chris, from Happy Healthy Teeth, teaches us about dental hygiene and healthy practices.
